Our Team

Dr. Kristen Eklund, DDS, brings a gentle style to her dentistry, making you and your family comfortable in the dental chair. With a background in community theatre, Dr. Eklund believes that a healthy, beautiful smile is essential for a quality life. She has lived in Minnesota most of her life, growing up in Richfield and now living in Mahtomedi with her husband and three children. Dr. Eklund graduated from the University of Minnesota Dental School, with high distinction, after completing her undergraduate work at Mankato State University and the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Patrick Merritt, DDS, offers family dentistry with an eye toward excellence. He places high priority on continuing education and offering far more than basic dental care. With a passion for community service, Dr. Merritt wants to get to know you as much as he wants to support your dental health. Dr. Merritt graduated with distinction from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, receiving the Quintessence Award for academic excellence in periodontology. With over 15 years of experience in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area, Dr. Merritt is active in the community and enjoys playing hockey, as well as spending time with his wife and daughters. Both doctors are active members of the American Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association, and Saint Paul District Dental Society.

Welcome to Hugo Dental Care! We welcome new patients every day. Our "new patient" appointments provide you and our staff with a comprehensive picture of your dental health. Our comprehensive new patient appointments include:

• Meeting our dental team
• Discussing your concerns and desires
• Receiving dental x-rays
• Receiving a comprehensive exam
• Receiving a comprehensive treatment plan that will be reviewed in detail, including costs and financing options

In most cases, you will also receive a dental cleaning (if your treatment needs are more extensive, it may be appropriate to schedule the cleaning for another date).
